Anini is the headquarters of Dibang Valley district and one of the most thinly populated districts in India. It is reached from Dibrugarh over Mayodia Pass through the Idu Mishmi heartland, and the journey is a substantial part of the experience.
Travellers come for the scale of the landscape, the near-absence of crowds, and the sense of being at a genuine road head. What they should not expect is developed tourism infrastructure.

How to reach Anini from Dibrugarh
The route is Dibrugarh to Roing on day one, then Roing over Mayodia Pass and down through Hunli to Anini on day two. Roing is the last town with dependable fuel and banking, so it functions as the staging point for the whole valley.
There is no realistic single-day option from Dibrugarh, and any itinerary that promises one has not accounted for the mountain sector.

Accommodation and expectations
Accommodation in Anini is limited, simple and should be booked in advance. Power and mobile connectivity are intermittent. Come prepared for basic comfort and the valley repays you generously; come expecting a hill station and you will be disappointed.
Best time to visit
November to April offers the clearest conditions. December to February is cold with snow possible at Mayodia — attractive, but occasionally disruptive to travel. Monsoon months carry a genuine landslide risk on the Mayodia sector.
