Arunachal Pradesh is a protected state. Indian nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter, and foreign nationals fall under a separate arrangement. This guide explains how the requirement affects a road journey from Dibrugarh in practical terms.

Who needs what
Indian nationals: an Inner Line Permit, issued per person, valid for specified districts and dates.
Foreign nationals: separate permissions apply, with additional restrictions in frontier areas. Requirements are stricter and lead times longer.
Checkposts on our routes
Every entry into Arunachal from the Assam side passes a checkpost where documents are recorded. Carry both printed and digital copies of your ID and permit. Our drivers are familiar with the process, which usually makes it quick.
Frontier areas need more than an ILP
Places close to the international boundary — notably Kibithoo, Kaho and parts of the Dong Valley area in Anjaw — carry additional restrictions beyond the standard ILP. Permission is not automatic and is not something any operator can guarantee. We will tell you honestly what is likely for your dates.
How far ahead to apply
For Indian nationals on standard districts, a couple of weeks is comfortable. For foreign nationals, or for frontier areas, start much earlier and build flexibility into the plan.
