Choosing the Best Vehicle for Eastern Arunachal
How we choose between Crysta, Scorpio, Bolero and Dzire for real routes.

The most common question we get after dates is which vehicle to book. The honest answer depends on three things: the specific sector, the season you are travelling, and how many people and bags you actually have.
Match the vehicle to the sector
A rough guide to how we allocate on real itineraries.
- Plains and surfaced routes — Namsai, Digboi, Tinsukia, airport transfers: Swift Dzire is comfortable and economical
- Mixed plains and hill — Roing, Tezu, Pasighat: Innova Crysta or Scorpio
- Sustained mountain sectors — Mayodia, Anini, Aalo–Mechuka: Crysta or Scorpio in dry months, Bolero in wet ones
- Frontier and broken surfaces — Hayuliang, Walong, Dong Valley, park forest roads: Bolero
Season changes the answer
The same Anini itinerary may suit a Crysta in February and a Bolero in July. Ground clearance and simplicity matter more than seat comfort once a sector has fresh slide repairs or loose diversions.
Passengers and luggage, realistically
A seven-seater is not a seven-passenger vehicle on a ten-hour mountain day. For long sectors we suggest four to five passengers per vehicle, and soft bags rather than hard shells where a roof carrier is in use.
Frequently asked questions
- Is a Bolero always safer on hill roads?
- Not always — it is more robust on broken surfaces, but on good tarmac a Crysta or Scorpio is the better and equally capable choice.
- Can I change vehicle mid-trip?
- Sometimes, in the plains. Once you are deep in a hill district, no. We prefer to get the choice right at quotation stage.
