Upper Assam Heritage Road Trip
Oil, coal, tea and the Stilwell Road in three or four days from Dibrugarh.

Within roughly a hundred kilometres of Dibrugarh you can visit the site where Asia's oil industry began, the start of a wartime road that ran towards China, a lowland rainforest, and villages where tea has been prepared the same way for generations. Few short road trips in India pack that range.
A logical order
Built as a three or four day loop with Dibrugarh as the base for most nights.
- Day one — Dibrugarh, tea estate landscape and the Brahmaputra
- Day two — Digboi oil heritage and the war cemetery
- Day three — Margherita, Ledo, the Stilwell Road head and a Singpho village visit
- Day four — Dehing Patkai rainforest in the early morning

Operating refineries and working coalfields are restricted. Museum and heritage site timings change. Village visits should be arranged in advance rather than turned up to. We plan around what is genuinely accessible on your dates.
