Namsai is the easiest Arunachal district to reach from Dibrugarh — flat, surfaced and comfortable even in a sedan. It is the home of the Tai Khamti community, whose Theravada Buddhist tradition shapes the district's temples, festivals and food.
The Golden Pagoda, Kongmu Kham, is the best-known site, but the wider district — Chowkham, the village monasteries, the Lohit riverside — rewards a slower visit.

The Golden Pagoda
Kongmu Kham sits in a landscaped complex on the edge of Namsai town and is a functioning religious site rather than a monument. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times, both for light and for atmosphere. Dress modestly and follow local guidance on photography.
